House Minority Leader Kevin McCarthy confirmed the news in a tweet on Wednesday, and many fellow legislators were eager to pay respect to Walorski. According to CNN Politics, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who is presently travelling in Asia, ordered the flags at the Capitol to be flown at half-staff in reaction to Walorski’s death.
According to NBC News, two of Walorski’s assistants, District Director Zachery Potts, 27, and Communications Director Emma Thomson, 28, were killed in the head-on crash.
Walorski’s net worth was estimated to be between $400,000 and $1.7 million at the time of her death.

Walorski was earning the usual $174,000 per year pay that all members of the House and Senate get, and she has earned almost $1.7 million in compensation throughout her tenure as a U.S. Representative. Her compensation during her time in the Indiana House of Representatives is insignificant. Members now earn $28,100 per year.
