Oppenheimer: Army of The Dead Matthias Schweighofer is part of the prominent cast of stars in the forthcoming film

Matthias Schweighofer from Army Of The Dead is the latest actor joining the cast of Christopher Nolan’s coming World War II biopic.

Christopher Nolan’s biography Oppenheimer is among the films most highly anticipated in the coming year. It appears that every day we are getting new additions to the incredible ensemble of actors. Today is no different, as Matthias Schweighofer joins the cast in an unidentified role as per Deadline.

Uniquely, Schweighofer will be joined by Cillian Murphy, Emily Blunt, Matt Damon, Robert Downey Jr., Florence Pugh, Rami Malek, Josh Hartnett, Kenneth Branagh, Jack Quaid, Matthew Modine and recently rejoined Josh Peck in a who’s the who of A-listers. But, Murphy portrays real-life physicist J. Robert Oppenheimer, who was in charge of the Manhattan Project and instrumental in creating the nuclear bomb. The film is an adaptation of Kai Bird and the late Martin J. Sherwin’s Pulitzer Prize-winning novel American Prometheus: The Triumph and Tragedy of J. Robert Oppenheimer.

According to Collider, Nolan formed the script and produced the film alongside his long-time co-author Emma Thomas. Schweighofer is the most memorable entertainer of Zack Snyder’s Netflix zombie epic Army of the Dead for the uninitiated. Schweighofer played the comic safety-cracking Dieter in the horror-action mix.

 His performance was the movie’s highlight, and it was amazing that he got his spinoff film, Army of Thieves, in the last quarter of 2013. Schweighofer’s next role is in the Netflix spy thriller Heart of Stone, where Schweighofer will be co-starring with Gal Gadot and Bollywood actress Alia Bhatt.

Oppenheimer will hit theatres on July 21 2023. This is the traditional release date for a Nolan film and comes just two weeks before the 50th birthday celebration of dropping the first nuclear weapon on Hiroshima.
